Install Cake Wallet on iPhone, iPad and Mac

On Apple devices, install Cake Wallet from the App Store: one listing (ID 1334702542, developer Cake Technologies, LLC) covers iPhone, iPad and Mac. You need iOS or iPadOS 15.0 or later, or macOS 12 or later. Deleting the app deletes your wallets, so back up every seed first.

Quick steps

  1. Check your device. You need iOS or iPadOS 15.0 or later on iPhone or iPad, or macOS 12 or later on a Mac.
  2. Find the real listing. Search the App Store for Cake Wallet and confirm the developer is Cake Technologies, LLC and the app ID is 1334702542.
  3. Install the app. Tap Get and confirm. The same listing installs on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and the App Store keeps it updated.
  4. Create or restore a wallet. Open Cake Wallet, set a PIN, then create a new wallet or restore one from its seed or a backup file.
  5. Back up the seed. Write the seed on paper and store it offline. For a 25-word Monero seed, also write down the restore height.

Apple devices get Cake Wallet only through the App Store, plus a .dmg download for Mac on GitHub. That makes installing simple: the main job is making sure you pick the real listing. This guide covers iPhone, iPad and the Mac App Store as of October 2026.

Find the real listing

Search the App Store for Cake Wallet and check these details before tapping Get:

  • Name: Cake Wallet
  • Developer: Cake Technologies, LLC
  • App ID: 1334702542 (visible in the listing's share link)

The same developer also publishes two other official apps: Monero.com by Cake Wallet (ID 1601990386), a Monero-only wallet, and Cupcake (ID 6737430272), an offline signing app. They are not Cake Wallet; see Monero.com vs Cake Wallet and Cupcake. Anything else using the Cake Wallet name, or a profile or "enterprise" app installed from a website, is not official. Our download checker can confirm a link.

Install on iPhone or iPad

Tap Get on the verified listing and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple Account password. Open the app, set a PIN, and create or restore a wallet. Updates arrive through the App Store; turn on automatic updates in Settings if you want them.

On iPad the same app runs at full size. Your wallets are not shared between devices: a wallet on your iPhone appears on your iPad only if you restore its seed there too.

Install on a Mac

The App Store listing includes the Mac version, so you can install it from the Mac App Store with the same checks. Alternatively, Cake publishes a Cake_Wallet_v…dmg file on GitHub that you verify with shasum -a 256; it does not update automatically. Note that not every GitHub release includes a Mac file. Full desktop details, including what is missing on Mac, are in Cake Wallet on desktop.

First run on iPhone

  1. Set a PIN. The PIN is stored only on your device and cannot be recovered; if you forget it, you restore from your seed.
  2. Choose create or restore. Create New Wallet starts fresh. Restore Wallet accepts a seed, keys or, on a fresh install, a backup file. Moving from another wallet? See restore a wallet.
  3. Pick a coin. For Monero, the default 16-word Polyseed stores the wallet's creation date. For Bitcoin and other coins, a 12-word BIP39 seed can be shared in a wallet group.
  4. Write down the seed. On paper, in order, and check every word. Cake Wallet includes a step that checks your written seed.
  5. Review privacy settings. Cake's hardening guide suggests looking at the privacy settings during setup, for example routing price data and swaps through Tor only. See privacy and Tor.

Face ID or Touch ID can unlock the app instead of the PIN. Cake's hardening guide suggests considering turning biometrics off on a phone that holds larger amounts.

Keeping it updated

Updates contain security fixes as well as features. In September 2026, for example, Cake fixed a moderate issue with Ethereum-style payment requests in version 6.4.4. Turn on automatic App Store updates, or check the Cake Wallet listing regularly. Read the "What's New" notes: removed coins, such as Zano's phase-out in 6.5.0, are announced there.

Cake's docs say USB hardware wallets are not supported on Apple devices (Cake Wallet docs, 2026). More in Ledger and Trezor.

Deleting, reinstalling or changing phones

Wallets live inside the app. Deleting the app deletes your wallets, and reinstalling does not bring them back (Cake Wallet docs, 2026). Before deleting, or before moving to a new iPhone:

  1. Open each wallet and write down its seed. For a 25-word Monero seed, also note the restore height. See seed backup.
  2. Optionally export an encrypted backup file and keep it, with its backup password, somewhere safe off the phone.
  3. After reinstalling, restore wallets one by one from their seeds, or from the backup file. Cake's docs say the backup-file option is offered only on a fresh install.

If a restored Monero wallet shows a zero balance, the restore height was probably too late; see restore height.

Security tips for iPhone users

  • Keep iOS updated and use a strong device passcode.
  • Do not store seeds in Notes, Photos, iCloud Drive or screenshots.
  • Consider Cake 2FA in the app's security settings for an extra check on sensitive actions.
  • Cake Wallet says its support never asks for your seed and never messages you first.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cake Wallet on the iPhone App Store?

Yes. The listing ID is 1334702542 and the developer is Cake Technologies, LLC. It covers iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Does Cake Wallet back up to iCloud?

Do not rely on it. Cake's docs say deleting the app deletes your wallets. Keep your seeds on paper; an encrypted backup file is an optional extra.

Can I use a Ledger with Cake Wallet on iPhone?

Yes, over Bluetooth with a Bluetooth-capable Ledger. USB hardware wallets are not supported on Apple devices, and Trezor works on iPhone and iPad only with the Safe 7.

Does Litecoin MWEB work on iPhone?

Yes, on iPhone and iPad. It is not available in the Mac app.

I reinstalled Cake Wallet and my wallets are gone. What now?

Restore each wallet from its seed, or from a backup file during the fresh install. Without either, the wallets cannot be recovered.
