Cake Wallet troubleshooting: symptom, cause and fix

Most Cake Wallet problems come from four causes: the wallet has not finished syncing, the node is unreachable, the restore height or seed type is wrong, or funds are still waiting for confirmations. Start by checking the sync status at the top of the home screen, switch to another node if it is stuck, and only then look at the specific symptom below. Your coins live on the blockchain, so a display problem in the app does not mean they are gone.

Quick steps

  1. Check the sync status. Look at the top of the home screen. If it shows Connecting, Attempting sync or Blocks Remaining, the wallet is not ready yet.
  2. Reconnect. Pull down on the home screen to reconnect to the current node, and switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data if the status does not change.
  3. Switch node. Open Settings, choose the coin's settings, then Nodes, and select a different working node.
  4. Update the app. Install the latest version from the official store listing or GitHub release, and verify the download.
  5. Match the symptom. Use the symptom table to find the detailed guide for your problem and follow its steps.
  6. Contact official support. If the problem remains, contact support inside the app or by email with your app version and transaction or Trade ID. Never share your seed.

This page is the starting point for fixing Cake Wallet. Find the symptom that matches what you see, read the most likely cause, then follow the link to the detailed guide. Everything here is based on Cake Wallet's documentation and the app's open-source code as of October 2026 (Cake Wallet 6.5.0). Frosting Guide is independent and is not Cake Wallet support.

Check these three things first

  1. Is the wallet synced? While it syncs, the top of the home screen shows a status such as Connecting, Attempting sync or a number of Blocks Remaining. Cake Wallet's own warning says your balance and transaction list may not be complete until it says SYNCHRONIZED. In the redesigned app, an empty sync area means the wallet is synced (Cake Wallet docs, 2026).
  2. Is the node working? Pull down on the home screen to reconnect. If that does not help, open Settings, go to the coin's settings and then Nodes, and pick a different node.
  3. Is the app up to date? Many old bugs are fixed in later releases. Update only from the official store listing or the official GitHub releases, and check the file with our download checker.

If any of these is the problem, fix it before you rescan, restore or contact anyone. Rescanning an unsynced wallet on a broken node usually just repeats the problem.

The four causes behind most problems

1. Sync is not finished

Cake Wallet is a light wallet that downloads and scans blockchain data on your phone. Until that finishes, balances can be wrong or zero and sends can fail with a "not synced" message. Monero is the slowest because the wallet must scan every block for outputs that belong to you. A Litecoin wallet with MWEB turned on also has a large first download.

2. The node is the problem

A node is the server your wallet talks to. Cake Wallet ships with default nodes and lets you add your own. Cake Wallet's docs say switching nodes is the first fix to try when a wallet will not connect or sync, and that the most common custom-node mistake is SSL turned on for a port that does not use SSL, or the reverse (Cake Wallet docs, 2026).

3. Restore settings do not match the original wallet

Monero and Zcash wallets scan only from the restore height forward, so a height after your first deposit hides older funds. For Bitcoin and Litecoin, a seed restored as the wrong type (BIP39 or Electrum) or on the wrong derivation path produces a different, empty wallet. Read restore height explained and how to restore.

4. Funds are waiting for confirmations

New incoming funds and Monero change need confirmations before you can spend them. This is a rule of each blockchain, not something Cake Wallet controls. Waiting is the fix.

Getting help safely

Cake Wallet's documentation lists in-app support (Settings, then Support), email at [email protected] and the Telegram support bot @cakewallet_bot. When you ask for help, give your app version, platform, coin and the exact error text, plus a transaction ID or Trade ID if one exists.

Never share your seed phrase, private keys or backup password. Cake Wallet says it never asks for your seed and never messages you first. Anyone who contacts you offering "recovery" or "support" is a scammer. Read fake Cake Wallet apps and scams.

Before you try a risky fix such as deleting and restoring a wallet, confirm that you have the full seed written down and, for 25-word Monero seeds, the restore height. See seed phrase backup.

Note: Cake Wallet is not related to PancakeSwap's CAKE token or to Cake DeFi. Problems with those products are not covered here.

Frequently asked questions

Are my funds lost if Cake Wallet shows zero?

Almost never. Your coins are on the blockchain. A zero balance usually means the wallet is still syncing, the restore height is too late, or the wrong seed type was used. Anyone with your seed can restore the wallet, so keep it safe.

What is the first thing to try when Cake Wallet is not working?

Check the sync status, pull down to reconnect, and switch to another node. Cake Wallet's docs say changing nodes is the first fix for connection and sync problems.

Should I delete and reinstall the app?

Only after you have confirmed that your seed phrase is written down correctly, and for 25-word Monero seeds the restore height. Deleting the app deletes the wallet files on that device.

How do I contact Cake Wallet support?

Use Support inside the app, email [email protected], or the Telegram bot @cakewallet_bot, according to Cake Wallet's docs. Real support never asks for your seed phrase.

Is this site Cake Wallet support?

No. Frosting Guide is an independent guide. We cannot see your wallet or your transactions.
