Frequently asked questions

Is Cake Wallet safe?

Cake Wallet is open source, non-custodial and has been around since 2018. Its most serious issue was weak Bitcoin seeds created by versions from 2020–2021, which users were told to replace. Fake apps, fake websites and phishing for seed phrases are a common risk for users of any wallet. See our safety guide and security history.

Is Cake Wallet free?

Yes. Cake Wallet charges no fee to send or receive. You pay network fees, and swap or buy providers inside the app build their own fee into the rate they quote; swap quotes can also include an undisclosed affiliate markup for Cake.

How do I download the real Cake Wallet?

Use the official App Store or Google Play listing, Cake Wallet's own F-Droid repository or Accrescent, or the official GitHub releases, starting from cakewallet.com typed in yourself. Our download checker compares links and app IDs with the official ones.

Is Cake Wallet related to the CAKE token?

No. Cake Wallet has nothing to do with PancakeSwap's CAKE token or with Cake DeFi.

Is Frosting Guide part of Cake Wallet?

No. We are an independent guide with no affiliate links. We do not link to any wallet website so that you always type official addresses yourself.
