Ethereum, EVM networks, USDT and tokens in Cake Wallet

Cake Wallet supports six EVM networks: Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, BNB Smart Chain and Robinhood Chain, each as its own wallet with one 0x address and ERC-20 (BEP-20) tokens. Every token transfer needs the network's own coin for gas, and since April 2026 you can bridge USDT between Ethereum, Polygon and Arbitrum inside the app.

Quick steps

  1. Open the source wallet. Open your Ethereum, Polygon or Arbitrum wallet and make sure it holds some ETH or POL for the fee.
  2. Choose USDT and tap Bridge. On the Assets tab tap USDT, then Bridge.
  3. Enter the amount. Type an amount or tap Max, then continue.
  4. Pick the destination. Choose one of the other two networks and a receiving address, either your own wallet there or Input an Address.
  5. Review and swipe. Check amount, networks, address and fee, then use Swipe to bridge.
  6. Track it. Open Bridge history from the history icon. Expect 2 to 30 minutes.

Ethereum arrived in Cake Wallet in version 4.8.0 (August 2023). Polygon followed in December 2023, then Base (October 2025), Arbitrum (January 2026), BNB Smart Chain (February 2026) and Robinhood Chain (version 6.5.0, October 2026).

One address, separate networks

Each EVM wallet has a single address starting with 0x. Ethereum and Robinhood Chain use the derivation path m/44'/60'/0'/0, so the same BIP39 seed gives the same address format across networks and can sit in one wallet group. But each network is separate. A payment sent on BNB Smart Chain only shows up in your BNB Smart Chain wallet. Before you receive, check that the sender is using the same network as the wallet you opened. One reused address also means less privacy than coins that rotate addresses.

EVM wallets use a 12-word BIP39 seed by default, with a 24-word option and an optional passphrase. You can also restore from a private key. Since 6.4.2 (August 2026), restoring from a mistyped seed gives an error instead of quietly creating a different wallet.

Gas fees

Every transaction, including a USDT transfer, costs gas in the network's own coin. If you hold USDT on Ethereum but no ETH, you cannot move it. Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain offer Slow, Medium and Fast levels that Cake Wallet sets from current network rates; Cake recommends Medium. Robinhood Chain has no fee selector. On Ethereum, transactions are broadcast privately through Blink to protect against front-running, with a fallback to normal broadcast; you can turn off Use Blink Protection under Connections (Cake Wallet docs, 2026). Tokens

  • Open the Assets tab, tap Tokens, search and switch on the token you want.
  • If it is missing, tap the plus button and add it by contract address. Copy the contract from the token issuer's official site, typed in yourself, not from a chat or an airdrop.
  • Since 5.9.0 (February 2026), EVM wallets automatically find tokens that have a balance, and Cake Wallet has spam-token detection that 6.3.0 (July 2026) made stricter. Never interact with unknown tokens that appear on their own; they are a common scam.
  • Only ERC-20 style tokens are supported on EVM networks. Ethereum NFTs are view-only.

USDT in Cake Wallet

USDT can live on Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base, BNB Smart Chain, Solana and Tron in Cake Wallet. They are not interchangeable: USDT on Tron (TRC-20) must be sent to a Tron address, USDT on Ethereum to an Ethereum wallet, and so on. Mixing networks is the most common way people lose stablecoins. Tron and Solana USDT are covered on Zcash, Solana, Tron and other coins.

The in-app USDT bridge

Version 6.1 (April 2026) added a Bridge button for USDT. It moves USDT between Ethereum, Polygon and Arbitrum, in any direction, using USDT0, which Cake Wallet describes as Tether's own system for moving USDT across chains. The USDT arrives as native USDT, not a wrapped copy (Cake Wallet docs, 2026).

  • The fee is paid in the source network's coin, so you need some ETH to bridge off Ethereum or POL to bridge off Polygon.
  • A bridge takes between 2 and 30 minutes depending on congestion.
  • Bridge is not available on Base, BNB Smart Chain, Tron or Solana. For those, use a swap (see swaps).
  • You can send the bridged USDT to someone else's address on the destination network. Check the address and network carefully.

Common mistakes with EVM networks

MistakeWhat happensHow to avoid it
Withdrawing from an exchange on the wrong networkFunds land on a network whose wallet you have not opened, or on one Cake Wallet does not supportPick the same network on the exchange as the wallet you opened in Cake Wallet
Holding tokens but no gas coinYou cannot send the tokensKeep a small balance of ETH, POL or BNB
Sending USDT to a Tron or Solana address from an EVM walletThe transfer fails or cannot be madeUse a swap or the bridge to change network first
Interacting with an unknown airdropped tokenApprovals can drain other tokensHide or ignore tokens you did not buy
Copying an address from historyAddress poisoning sends funds to a look-alikeCopy from the recipient or address book, and check it with the address checker

WalletConnect and hardware wallets

Cake Wallet supports WalletConnect for decentralized apps and can sign and verify messages. Only connect to sites you reached by typing the address yourself, and read every approval request. Ledger and Trezor work with Ethereum and Polygon, and BitBox02 works on Android; Robinhood Chain does not support hardware wallets. See Ledger and Trezor.

Cake Wallet never asks for your seed and never messages you first. Cake Wallet is also unrelated to PancakeSwap's CAKE token on BNB Smart Chain.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I send my USDT?

You need the network's own coin for gas, such as ETH on Ethereum, POL on Polygon or BNB on BNB Smart Chain.

Is my Cake Wallet Ethereum address the same on BNB Smart Chain?

The 0x format is the same and one seed can cover both, but they are separate networks with separate wallets in the app. Make sure the sender uses the right network.

Which chains does the USDT bridge support?

Ethereum, Polygon and Arbitrum only, in any direction.

How long does bridging USDT take?

Cake Wallet says between 2 and 30 minutes, depending on network congestion.

How do I add a token that isn't listed?

Open Assets, Tokens and use the plus button to add it by contract address from an official source.

Is Cake Wallet related to the CAKE token?

No. CAKE is PancakeSwap's token. Cake Wallet is an unrelated wallet app.
